More ruminations on Blake’s reply

Also posted on the USD College Republicans blog

1) Mr. Blake made it sound as if Nesselhuf actually had an active role in the USD money. He had absolutely nothing to do with the bill, other than voting for it like every other senator

2) Mr. Blake said that Nesselhuf is the first Senator from Clay County in 100 years to hold a Senatorial leadership. That is about as much of a stretch as possible. There is absolutely no statute or Senate rule mentioning a “Caucus Chairman.” It is a title made up by the Democrats to make him sound important. If he were something like majority or minority leader, whip, or president pro tempore, he would be a Senate leader. But he isn’t any of those.

I’m still confused which Matt Hittle wrote this. The same exact thing is on the College Republican’s website and neither website indicate whether he wrote this as the College Republican President or the Volante columnist. He shouldn’t be allowed to be both at all times.

Volante – Matt Hittle should be allowed to post blogs as a columnist on this blog. He should be allowed to post blogs as a CR on the CR blog. He should not be allowed to post the same exact thing on both blogs and claim that on this post he is Matt Hittle the columnist and on the CR blog, with the exact same blog, as Matt Hittle the CR Pres.

So my final question: which blog to you copy and paste in?

    Ryan-

As you can see, my posts on this blog now have “Matt Hittle is President of USD College Republicans and Secretary of USD Political Science League” written at the bottom.

I have been informed by David Whitesock, Volante online director, that this statement alleviates any conflicts of interest.

Also, I post here first, then copy to the CR blog basically so that more eyes see it. If I’m told it is inappropriate, I’ll stop. But for now, I’ve been told I’m in the clear.

    Thanks for playing.

It is inappropriate. You link to the CR blog. As a columnist for the Volante blog, you are actively encouraging people to go to the CR blog. If they are the exact same thing, why is it necessary for you to put “Also posted on the USD College Republicans blog” with a link to that website? The Volante, through your blog posts, is promoting the USD CR online beyond an appropriate journalistic standard.

The disclaimer doesn’t change anything. In fact, it leads me to believe that this is Matt Hittle, the “President of the USD College Republicans and Secretary of the USD Political Science League” rather than Matt Hittle, the columnist who purportedly wrote this article. I think this hurts the integrity of the paper.

On two different levels, this practice of cross-posting between a student newspaper blog and a partisan student organization is bad for the Volante.

That’s your opinion, and you’re entitled to it.

The bigwigs at the Volante have said it’s ok.

    I’ll trust them.
